The Fitzroy Island Flyer departs from Cairns Marina at 8am. The 45-minute cruise in a 190-seat air-conditioned catamaran takes you to the sheltered waters of Welcome Bay on Fitzroy Island. The tour includes a snorkel safari that departs from the main beach and explores the surrounding bays, offering a chance to snorkel right off the boat.

08:00am - Depart Cairns Marina
The journey begins with a relaxing 45-minute cruise from Cairns to Fitzroy Island on an air-conditioned catamaran. Enjoy the views as you travel to Welcome Bay.
08:45am - Arrive at Fitzroy Island
Upon arrival, disembark and prepare for the day’s activities on the island.
09:45am - Check-in at Fitzroy Island Sports Hub (FISH)
Check-in at the Fitzroy Island Sports Hub next to the Resort Pool. The staff will provide you with snorkeling gear and instructions.
10:00am - Snorkel Safari Departs Fitzroy Island
Board the safari vessel for a short cruise to one of the exclusive bays. Before diving in, guides will give a detailed talk and snorkeling instructions. Explore the vibrant fringing reef and its marine life.
12:00pm - Return to Fitzroy Main Beach
After the snorkel safari, return to the main beach for leisure time on the island. You can explore the island, relax on the beach, or visit other attractions.
05:00pm - Fitzroy Island Flyer Departs
Board the catamaran for your return journey to Cairns.
05:45pm - Return to Cairns Marina
Arrive back at Cairns Marina, concluding your tour.

The ferry ride over to Fitzroy Island was good - we enjoyed it, but the island had uneven terrain, including walking on coral and as we both have mobility issues, this tour was inappropriate for us. Also, the beach had coral, not sand, and was on a steep angle. Even the eating area was not open, so we went back early rather than being in pain for a further three and a half hours. For Fitzroy Island hikes, you need to have the warning that a reasonably high level of fitness is required, in your marketing material.
I got 2 messenges and 2 emails the day before to remind me of my upcoming trip. Seems a bit much. 1 reminder would have been enough. Funny and friendly staff on the boat.
